Friday night, made easy
Never led Shabbat before? You don't need to. Here's how the evening goes, and what in the box you'll use at each step.
About 18 minutes before sunset, light both candles, cover your eyes and say the blessing. Shabbat has begun.
Read the blessing →Fill the kiddush cup with grape juice and say the blessing to welcome the day. Then everyone takes a sip.
Read Kiddush →Keep the challah covered during Kiddush. Then uncover it, say Hamotzi and share it around the table.
Read Hamotzi →Every blessing is printed in Hebrew, transliteration and English. Scan the QR code to pull them up on your phone.
Finish with dessert. Flavors rotate from week to week. Shabbat shalom!
How it works
The OG for your first Shabbat, I've Done This Before to refill, or Baby's First Shabbat for new parents.
Kosher food and every ritual item you need, packed together in one box.
Every box is timed to arrive before candle lighting on Friday.
Who it's for
For anyone who wants to keep Shabbat on their own terms, even in a dorm.
For Friday schedules that leave no time to shop.
For hotel guests and short-term renters with no kosher shop nearby.
A meaningful gift for a student, a new home or family far away.
Our story
Our founder spent three years active in Jewish life at Rowan University and still found it hard to celebrate Shabbat consistently. The desire was there. Pulling it together took planning and trips to three different stores.
So we put everything into one box. Shabbat wherever you are, at whatever level of observance feels right.
Shabbox lowers the barrier to entry without lowering the meaning of the ritual.
